Data protection and GDPR

We do our utmost to respect your privacy. We do no profiling and do not sell personal data. The site loads no external resource (fonts, scripts, images): no third party learns about your visit through us.

Data collected

Browsing the site

Browsing the site requires no data and sets no cookie.

Server logs

The web server logs every request and error. They are needed to run the server, diagnose errors and keep it secure — in particular to spot abnormal requests (attacks, denial of service). Only the server's administrator (Robin Labadie – LRob) can read them.

Statistics

When audience measurement is enabled, it will be run by a tool self-hosted by LRob (Matomo), with no transmission to third parties and with the IP address anonymised. Data collected: the site you came from, the pages viewed, the date and duration of the visit, the anonymised IP address, the device type, operating system, screen resolution, language, country and browser.

Forms and accounts

When the site offers a contact form or account creation, the data you provide (identity, e-mail, message, login credentials, IP address and connection metadata for security purposes) will be collected for the sole purpose of handling your request, managing your account and the services you subscribe to, and replying to you. Payments will be handled by Stripe; we will not store your card details. This page will be updated when those services open.

Retention

• Server logs and anonymised statistics: 3 years at most.
• Contact form data: 5 years at most.
• Account data: as long as the account is active, then 5 years after the last order for accounting evidence or dispute handling, unless deletion is requested earlier.

Confidentiality

Your personal data is not meant to be disclosed or passed to any third party without your knowledge. The only case where it could be: a court order requiring the logs or your details to be handed to the authorities.

Data security

• The site is served over encrypted connections only (HTTPS).
• Security updates of the server and the site are applied daily.
• The server is protected by firewalls, filtering and anti-brute-force protections — including Shieldlist itself.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict the processing of, object to the processing of, and port your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the details above.

If something goes wrong

Perfect security does not exist. Should a data breach occur despite our measures, the users concerned would be contacted within 72 hours and the services concerned suspended until secured; any request to restore compliance would be handled within 72 hours of receipt.

Intellectual property and reuse

Shieldlist, its logo, and the texts and images of this site (open-source content excepted) belong to LRob and may not be republished on a third-party medium without explicit consent. You may freely link to this content.

The Shieldlist agent and controller are free software released under the AGPL-3.0. Free rules are released under the licence stated in each file. Premium rules are licensed for use to account holders and may not be redistributed.
